On Wednesday 3rd June some of our intrepid students left the classroom behind to make the journey to the top of the beautiful Zomba Plateau. The children started their journey from the school gates, walking up the mountain road and then onto the Potato Path. They set up camp at the Ku Chawe Trout Farm on the plateau. The following day was spent making the 18k trek along the Mulunguzu River through forest trails up to Chagwa Peak and Chagwa Dam before taking in the fantastic views from Queen's View of Mt. Mulanje, Zomba Town and our school at the foot of the mountain. They returned to the camp by following the trail around Mulunguzi Peak down to the Dam and past Mandala Falls. The children planned and prepared their own meals and took part in tracking and orienteering activities. Evenings were spent around the camp fire baking bread on a stick, toasting marshmallows, listening to spooky stories and singing camp fire songs.
