On Saturday 21st March, SHJ hosted international schools from Limbe, Blantyre and Lilongwe for a 7-a-side Mini-Soccer Tournament. This is the first time that girls have ever played in a competitive football tournament in Malawi. 100 students competed against each other in typical Zomba rainy season weather. Both the boys and girls tournament was won by Saint Andrew's International Primary School from Blantyre. The quality of football from their girl's team was wonderful. Soggy and mud-covered competitors had a fantastic day despite the rain! We would like to thank our Parent Group for providing all the logistical support and catering. We would also like to say a big 'thank you' to Wonder Bakery, Proto Feeds and Donna's Eggs for kindly sponsoring the event.
Malawi's national newspaper 'The
Nation' also featured the event. |
